Tank Garage Winery Debuts 1st Chromed-Glass Wine Bottle

Tank Garage Winery, located in a 1930s-era service station turned winery in Calistoga, released Chrome Dreams.  It’s a 2015 Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon-based blend and the world’s first chromed-glass wine bottle. An ode to the classic American automobile, Chrome Dreams bottle features a mirrored surface and extruded wing-wheeled emblem inspired by iconic vintage cars and Americana metalwork.

To achieve this revolutionary aesthetic, Tank Garage Winery spent over one year working with a packaging manufacturer to perfect their proprietary chroming process. Each clear-embossed resin seal is delicately formed and imported from Italy.

“We wanted to go back to a time when cars weren’t just cars, but artful vessels of freedom, carrying the American dream westward across Route 66. Classic cars were a direct reflection of our greatest hopes and dreams – we were inspired to bring that spirit of aspiration back with Chrome Dreams,” said James Harder, co-founder of Tank Garage Winery. “From the wine to packaging, the entire experience is designed to create a sense of marvel. We are excited for wine drinkers to taste, collect and experience this incredible achievement in wine.”

The limited-edition Napa Valley red wine is sourced from Tank Garage Winery’s most trusted growing partners. The blend of 87% Cabernet Sauvignon, 8% Cabernet Franc and 5% Petite Sirah delivers aromas of dark crème de cassis with layers of vanilla and caramel supported by hints of bay leaf and star anise in the background.

Chrome Dreams is a limited-edition wine with fewer than 500 cases produced, sold exclusively at Tank Garage Winery’s service station in Calistoga beginning Sept. 1 and www.tankgaragewinery.com starting Sept. 15 for $75 per bottle.
