Senate Farm Bill Fully Funds MAP, Aids Research into Pests

The Senate Appropriations Committee approved a $147.7 billion appropriations bill that fully funds $200 million for the Market Access Program.  The measure also includes Specialty Crop Block Grant funding for issues such as Pierce’s disease and other pests and diseases, as well as sustainable production practices.

Senate consideration of this bill will not occur until after the Memorial Day recess and it is uncertain about when the House will consider its version of the bill.

The Market Access Program is used by major bev/al trade associations, including Wine Institute and Distilled Spirits Council, to promote their members products overseas.
