Mike & Talley Henry Buy Acre Winery

The seller is founder Dave Becker and Bob Babbe.  Acre is a producer of high quality Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot and Zinfandel from the Napa Valley. “We will build on Acre’s market position and strong distributor and importer relationships,” the Henrys said in making the announcement, “and we will expand both the varietal range and production as well as enhancing the direct-to-consumer channel.”  Terms weren’t disclosed.

One Acre, Dave Becker’s single-vineyard brand was also part of the purchase. Becker will independently farm his vineyards in Oak Knoll and Yountville.

Mike Henry, whose wine industry background includes sales, sales management and most recently brand management with The Henry Wine Group, the California division of The Winebow Group, will oversee the combined Acre Wines portfolio, managing production and brand development.

Talley Henry, formerly an attorney with Nixon Peabody and the U.S. Navy, will head up the winery’s DTC effort. Bob Babbe and Dave Becker will continue on the Acre Wines team.

Industry veteran Richard Bruno is joining ACRE Wines as the consulting winemaker. Richard’s knowledge and craftsmanship have already made their mark on the 2014 Cabernet Sauvignon
