Jim Harrelson, founder of Do Good Distillery, Dies at 38

Cause of death was a heart attack.  Before founding the Modesto, Calif., craft distillery in 2013, Harrelson was a deputy sheriff and detective in the Stanislaus County Sheriff’s Department.  His family said the company’s name comes from the Benjamin Franklin attributed quote “Do well by doing good.”

Harrelson was serving as president of the California Artisanal Distillers Guild and last year helped to successfully lobby to change the law and allow small-batch distillers to sell their products on their properties.  Read more, here, from The Modesto Bee.
