California Wild Fires Claim at Least Four Wineries

In Mendocino County, Frey Vineyards was destroyed, as was Golden Vineyards and Oster Wine Cellars, both owned by Kenny and Teresa Oster, were destroyed.  Paradise Ridge Winery, Sonoma, burned down.

The fate of many properties is uncertain.  Folio Fine Wine Partners, a Michael Mondavi family winery, said it doesn’t know the status of Animo Vineyard in the Atlas Peak district.  Gallo said it doesn’t know the status of the 600-acre Stagecoach Vineyard in Napa.  Treasury Wine Estates says it doesn’t know the status of Cheateau St. Jean.

Some wineries are reported to be safe, including Scribe Winery in Sonoma, Gundlach Bundschu, and William Hill Estate Winery, owned by E&J Gallo.

So far, at least 15 persons have died and 150 are missing.  Some 27,000 are without power, thanks to the fire.
