Book Review: Tipsy Texan: Spirits and Cocktails from the Lone Star State

Book Review:  Tipsy Texan

A tip of the hat to David Allen, who has produced a terrific new book, Tipsy Texan:  Spirits and Cocktails from the Lone Star State.

The book is worth getting for the fabulous color photography of one cocktail after another.  But there’s a lot more — there’s an excellent hisotry of the American cocktail, cocktail receipes, short histories of the major cocktails and Texas’s own craft distillers (and yes, Dan Garrison of Garrison Brothers Distilling and Kelly Railean of Railean Distiller both are wearing cowboy hats).

A Texan looking to set up a bar — professional or home — could do a lot worse than buying and using Tipsy Texan.  For that matter, so could just about anyone else.
