Backpack Wine Intros New Variety, Hires Regional Sales Director

Backpack Wine, the premium canned wine blended from Washington State grapes and produced by Source Code Beverage, Oak Brook, Ill., is expanding its portfolio and its national footprint with a new Rowdy Red variety and the addition of wine industry veteran Lisa Taaffe as Regional Sales Director.

Backpack Rowdy Red will be available for purchase later this fall in 4-can packs of 250 ml single serve cans at retailers, bars and restaurants across the US.  It’s a blend of Washington State Merlot and Syrah and has velvety dark cherry and plum notes and unlike bottled wine, can be enjoyed at a tailgate or pool party, thrown in the cooler with beer cans and is ready for any adventure. Backpack’s new Rowdy Red wine joins the other two “premium and portable” wines, Cheeky Rose and Snappy White.

In another development, Backpack hired Lisa Taaffe as Regional Sales Director for the Central US region. She joins from Union Wine Company where she is credited with helping to establish and build the first premium still wine in a can available in America.

Backpack Wine is available in more than 1,000 stores in 18 states across the US at fine retailers, bars and restaurants and for sale in most states online.
