A D.C. Wine Auction Raises $200,000 for California Wildfire Victims

The auction was in support of North Bay Fire Relief, and sought to support people whose lives have been disrupted by the northern California wildfires.

The event was hosted by the California State Society.  WineAmerica and Wine Institute played a major role, along with Altria (parent company of Chateau Ste. Michelle) and other sponsors.

Members of the Honorary Host Committee included Rep. Mike Thompson, co-founder and co-chair of the Congressional Wine Caucus, along with House Majority Leader Kevin McCarthy, Democratic Leader Nancy Pelosi, and other colleagues.

The “Best of Class” (top) sponsor was Jackson Family Wines, which provided major support for the event in the form of a major Live Auction Lot (a unique “Wine Country Experience”), special bottlings and other items.

Cakebread Cellars and Chateau Montelena of the Napa Valley also donated auction wines, along with Constellation Brands.

Wineries outside California also donated wines for the auction and/or reception included Anthony Road Winery, Bedell Cellars, and Dr. Frank Wines from New York; Adelsheim Vineyard and Brooks Wines from Oregon; Mazza Wines of Pennsylvania; William Chris of Texas; L’Ecole No. 41 and Pepper Bridge from Washington.
